Terms of use

The rules for using this site. The important one is the first: this is information, not advice.

Before you launch

Have these terms reviewed by a solicitor and insert your registered entity name, company number and registered address.

1. Information, not advice#

KeepTheLot publishes general information about the law of England & Wales. It is not legal, financial or tax advice, it is not tailored to your circumstances, and using this site does not create a solicitor–client or any other professional relationship. We are not a law firm and we are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Always take advice from a qualified professional before acting.

2. Accuracy#

We work from primary sources and date every figure, but law and tax thresholds change, sometimes at short notice. We do not warrant that everything here is current or complete at the moment you read it. Where a page states when its figures were last checked, that is the extent of what we can promise.

3. The calculator#

The trust savings calculator produces an illustrative estimate from the figures you enter and the standard allowances. It is not advice, not a quotation, and not a guarantee of any outcome. It cannot account for your full circumstances, and you must not make decisions on it alone.

4. Introductions to advisers#

Where you ask to be introduced to an adviser, we make an introduction only. We are not party to any contract between you and that adviser, we do not supervise their work, and we are not responsible for the advice they give or the service they provide. Advisers may pay us a referral fee — see how we work. You should carry out your own checks on any professional before instructing them.

We link to GOV.UK, HMRC, regulators and other third-party sites for your convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content.

6. Intellectual property#

The content of this site is owned by us or licensed to us. You may read, print and share it for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not republish it commercially, scrape it in bulk, or present it as your own.

7. Acceptable use#

Do not use this site unlawfully, attempt to gain unauthorised access, submit false information through our forms, or use automated systems to overload it.

8. Liability#

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss arising from reliance on this site's content. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes#

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version.

10. Governing law#

These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

11. Contact#
